Thank you to everyone who helped out and performed at the HAF 2007. I think it went pretty well, apart from a little rain early Sunday which put a bit of a dampners on things.
It was brillinat to see smiling faces around the village and lots of local people getting involved in the local community in a creative way. The John Shuttleworth gig packed the Community Centre to its full capacity; the Nyah Irish exchange musicians enjoyed themselves during the weekend and went down well; the Cobbles and Clay buskers/blues cafe was a big success featuring approx 10 local singers/musicians; There were over 100 local people participated in the creative arts afternoon run by six local community artists, four local bands and one from London performed at three different venues and Kate Bush’s cousin sang in the Baptist Church; Local street performers ran a gravy tanning salon and displayed stilt walking skills with costumes on the main street; local children were involved in creating songs of ’my Haworth’ which were played on a radio station set up for the festival; children were also entertained by a couple of story tellers and had their awareness raised about slavery in a perfomance/workshop by Capoeira; some dancing took place with the Bretton group of musicians and at the gigs; it was all good fun and helped give a sense of community spirit to Haworth; the paintings at the Black Bull were beautiful; six local artists also projected films that they had created in various locations around the village; and Simon Warner’s Yorkshrie Rivers installation at St Michael’s Church fit in very well in the location used. I have probably missed something off the list...
I think with the enthusiasm that was expressed by people during in the festival, that next year’s will be even better. Jane

Hi all
I DO own a hat and I agree - hat’s off to all - another successful festival and a lively exchange of views - all good stuff. Friday’s gig was ACE but I would say that - Sex Patels I must see again as I only caught three songs - spectacular

Can I add that I have been very impressed with all the events I have attended during the festival, particularly The Sex Patels, Becks Sian, Nyah on the Train, (and in the pubs locally), Simon Warners installlation at St Michael’s Church Pink&Ruby, Fairy Dog Mother at The Crossroads pub, Nick Toczek, all the media projections installed around the village including Sonia’s Smile, The Railway Station and Cobbles and Clay.
The Blues Cafe created a perfect atmosphere for the weekend, Family Creative workshops at the community centre and other hands-on activities were both vibrant and buzzing with eager participants.
John Shuttleworth, (@Community Centre) and the Nyah Monster Jam,(@Crossroads Pub) rounded off a great weekend.
I would raise my hat,(if I owned one) to all the efforts made by so many to making the festival diverse and creative.

I just wanted to coment that I have realy enjoyed the festival, and that all of the events I attended involved local people, the Pink and Ruby Gig featured local artists films alongside national artists, the Sex Patells another high callaber local act, Eggs on Sticks, Street performers who live down my street, local musicians in the Blues Cafe featuring alongside people from further afield, the Art work by Local people on the wall of the Black Bull, And the radio station DJed by another Haworth Resident. I think it is fantastic to raise the profile of our wealth of local tallent by billing it alongside national and international performers. It also broadens the cultural experiences of local people to have touring performers visit their village, and helps to establish Haworth as a Center for Artistic Activity.
Just writing this list has made me particularly aware of all the people that worked so hard to pull this festival off. Nice one

So far, so fantastic! I’ve really enjoyed the music last night, the life drawing and the Capoiera today. I think you’ve drawn a great balance between inspirational stuff from outside, and employing local people to run participatory workshops, and it’s good to see the community centre being used this time. Well done to all of you - I know how hard it’s been!

Just heard your piece on Drystone Radio, I particularly enjoyed the songs created by the local school children!
Very excited to see (and hear) what will come this weekend! Keep up the good work!

Great to have John Shuttleworth - is it definite? your descriptions are rather vague - eg what is your Nyah on train?

"Small aches from little toe-corns grow".
Please consider spending grants on seriously promoting local artists...before buying the time of out-moded out-sideders to headline events.
There is a lot of talent in this area; promote it!
’Woodstock’ will follow !
We have a valley full of singers, painters, actors, dancers ... and everything in-between.
Please don’t copy; CREATE.
