Thursday 30th August
7.30pm Guide to Yorkshire Rivers by Simon Warner. Simon will introduce his stunning three screen installation of a ducks eye tour down the Aire, Wharf and Ouse taken by a water-bourn camera, at St Michael's church and will be showing there continuously each day except during church services. Our Haworth Tea Party Exhibit; a ceramic installation piece created by children from Haworth Primary After School Club with artist Rachel Lee (NOT an actual tea party!) Also to be exhibited in the church. 8.00pm Local musician's free open session; at Cobbles and Clay Cafe, all welcome! Friday 31st August
7.30pm 'Pinknruby' plus 'SAY' at the Parkside Club - featuring Haworth / Thornton Artists exchange projection - brought together by Amy Hield. Look out for further showings of the projection at various locations around Haworth over the weekend. £3 on door. Saturday 1st September Arts and Crafts at Community Centre (Free) 1.00pm - 3.30pm Haworth Community Centre - Family Creative Event - Come and try your hand at clay modeling, digital photography, painting; have a go on a potters wheel and more! Sessions led by six local community artists. Our Haworth Radio station - Tim and Lucy Moon will be presenting an internet radio broadcast featuring the music and artists of the festival with a strong input from local young people. Listen at www.drystoneradio.co.uk Life Drawing(Adults) 10.00am - 12.30pm at the Community Centre. Watercolour Painting 1-3.30pm. These two workshops are free and are for people over 17 and of all levels of ability. All materials will be provided but feel free to bring your own paints. Blues cafe - A variety of local musicians will be performing in the Cobbles and Clay cafe, on Main Street.
Eggs on Sticks are running a gravy tanning salon halfway down Haworth Main Street throughout the afternoon. 3.00 - 5.00pm (Haworth School) Capoeira is a dramatic blend of fight-dance, game and martial art developed by Brazilian slaves in the 19th Century. See this vibrant performance by the London School of Capoeira and participate in the workshop that follows. £5/£3 entry. Poet, magician, stand up comedian, puppeteer and children's story teller Nick Toczek will keep you spellbound with his amazing stories in the Park. Evening Haworth as WE see it - A switching on ceremony at 8.00pm will reveal 100 paintings created by the local community displayed on the gable-end of the Black Bull pub and will form a single vast panel. This is a project organised by Chris and Sandra McCarthy.
Community Centre 8.00pm (£5 entry) Sex Patels - Bangra meets Punk! Think 'Pretty Vacant' as a relaxed Asian Flavoured Lounge song, and you'll have an idea of why you shouldn't miss this amazing band. Supported by the 21 Century Urban Blues Men.
8.00pm (£3) Nyah & Beck Sian. Nyah is an exciting musical exchange between the Nyah Festival from County Cavan in Ireland and the Haworth Arts Group – led by Paul Jermayn. Nyah will be playing with Beck Sian - whose influences include her cousin Kate Bush as well as the wild landscape of her native mountain range in Australia. Her music has a Celtic thread, a world music vibe and a gothic darkness. Andy Hill to MC. Please note the venue for this is now the Baptist Chapel. Sunday 2nd September Afternoon Nyah on the steam train. Nyah is an exciting exchange between the Nyah Festival from County Cavan in Ireland and the Haworth Arts Group - led by Paul Jermayn. Watch out for the incredible stilt walking Fire Fly (Chicks on Sticks, Main Street). Les Panards Dansant 3.00pm - 5.00pm(Parkside) Ker Brize plays traditional music from Brittany. There will be an opportunity to join in some simple but entrancing circle dances as Yannick calls the basic steps as well as singing to traditional Breton songs. £3 entry. Keighley Rock band Fairy Dogmother will be playing their set of original songs and one or two rock standards. 4.00pm free at the Crossroads pub. Evening Nyah monster jam session at the Crossroads pub (free 7.00pm)
John Shuttleworth - 8.00pm, - £12 (Community Centre). After a brilliant U.K. tour, 'With my Condiments', Sheffield's most famous singer/organist hits Haworth, with a few tips on healthy eating. He will even prepare a meal on stage - providing his mixing bowl doesn't slide off his organ...
